Naturalization Records Policy

As the repository for Cascade County, we do hold naturalization records in our collections. However, we are a repository not the creating agency, and therefore cannot provide certified copies of naturalization records. The records were created by the Department of Immigration, which now exists at the United State Citizenship and Immigration Services. Our facility cannot certify records owned by USCIS. To obtain records for dual citizenship purposes you will need to go through the Genealogy Program ran by USCIS.

If you would like to check the file number before you submit a request, please reach out to genealogy.uscis@uscis.dhs.gov with the file number and subject’s information. They will assist you in verifying the request.

We have been informed that if you take the packet provided by the USCIS Genealogy Program to the Department of State, they will apostille or certify the records. USCIS no longer offers the Apostille nor do they certify records.

For a modest fee we can provide you uncertified copies of naturalization records for genealogy research purposes only.
