Visible Vault
Take a glimpse into The History Museum’s object holdings and see how a museum works behind the scenes! In the Visible Vault you may see objects on display, cataloging or conservation work, or researchers taking a closer look at The History Museum’s collection.
The Visible Vault is located on the 2nd Floor in the Research Center. Visitors are welcome and are required to sign the Research Center guest book. To access materials in the Research Center & Visible Vault, an appointment must be made in advance.
Take a Tour Behind the Visible Vault Wall
Tours Behind the Visible Vault Wall are offered every Thursday at 2pm. See first hand how we store and care for objects, photographs, and documents pertinent to the North Central Montana region.
Tours Behind the Visible Vault Wall are free admission, but advanced registration is required. Tour attendees are expected to follow security protocols as explained by the Collections Curator and will be asked to present a photo ID when signing in.
Tours are limited to 4 people at a time and begin promptly at 2pm. Registration at least 24 hours in advance is appreciated. Please arrive 15 minutes early.
