In September of 1952, a stock car race was held at the fairgrounds. It was met with such enthusiasm that the Great Falls Speedway was built the next year by Racing, Inc. It was one of the finest quarter-mile dirt tracks in the state. The grandstands were built on a natural slope along with concessions and restrooms. Known as both the Great Falls Speedway and the Electric City Speedway, the track has attracted racers from across the state.

The Electric City Speedway is an experience. The sights and sounds of the track from jalopy (an old car in poor condition) races to car rolls and car flights, from stock car races to motorcycle slides have echoed across Black Eagle and across the Missouri River for the last 70 years. Here we share images of the past and encourage you to see it in person!
