Well Known Great Falls Men Cartooned

Featured here is the book Well Known Great Falls Men Cartooned, a book illustrated by cartoonist H. W. Lytle with verses by Ed H. Cooney, published in 1913. This book is a satirical look at the most prominent male figures in Great Falls at the time, or perhaps to the cartoonist, the men that he felt either needed recognition or a good jab.

Some are still well known today, such as Charlie Russell or Paris Gibson, but others are not as recognized over 100 years later. The 101 pages are scanned in the photo gallery below.

Cartoons of 100 or More Great Falls Citizens will appear in Attractive Portfolio

“Well Known Great Falls Men Cartooned” will be the title of an attractive book, or portfolio, to be issued by Mr. H. W. Lytle, the cartoonist, soon after he has completed the present series of cartoons appearing in the Leader daily under the same title.

This work will contain cartoons of more than 100 well known men of this city, men engaged in many kinds of business and many professions. They will be the same pictures as those appearing in The Leader, simply being incorporated in book form, making valuable work for preservation. The verses appearing in The Leader in connection with the pictures will also appear in the book. The work will be attractively bound, printed on a fine quality of paper, an done that is destined to be found in hundreds of Great Falls home for many years to come.

The cartoons appearing in The Leader daily have proved a most popular feature and they will continue for several months. In the meantime, Mr. Lytle will soon send out a representative to take orders in advance for the portfolio, that he may know about how large an edition to print.
